To put that in perspective, the average number of cases waiting for an interview to be scheduled in 2019 was 60,866. That makes the current backlog 7x the “normal” amount. The total number of visa interviews scheduled increased from 28,447 in May to 28,545 in June, still well below the recent high of 34,408 in July 2021. Remember, the NVC can only schedule interviews when they receive word from your local US Embassy or Consulate that an interview slot is available.
